Feels Playful sold to Geisel Park

Thursday, 25 July 2024 | Geisel Park has purchased Playing God mare Feels Playful for $80,000 at the Inglis Digital July (Late) Sale that closed on Wednesday.

A Listed winner of the 2023 Challenge Stakes (1500m) at Ascot, she was offered as a breeding proposition by her owners who banked $328,045 during a 10-start career.  That included Westspeed Bonuses of $135,300.

Feels Playful (pictured) also carries a $10,000 breeding credit courtesy of EPONA.  Sidelined since October 2023, her connections called time after she was eased down in the race won by Celebrity Prince at Belmont last month.  “She’s big and strong and is as tough as nails,” trainer Mitch Pateman said after the Challenge Stakes.  “That’s typical of the Playing Gods and I would like a stable full of them!”

Feels Playful was bred in the Great Southern by Dr Colin Davey and is a younger half-sister to Feels Danish (Danehill Express) who was runner-up in G3 WA Oaks of 2022.  Their dam Feels Like Spring (Dr Johnson) has a filly foal by A Lot (USA) and was bred back to him on an early cover last September at Westbury Park.

The Inglis Digital July (Late) Sale grossed over $3.82 million and next best among WA buyers was Kalgoorlie-based Andrew Inglis who purchased 6yo gelding Sentimental Hero (Al Maher) for $50,000.

Sentimental Hero was offered by Peters Investments following a Belmont victory in the Unite Resourcing Hcp (1600m) at his penultimate start for trainer Michael Grantham.  A good-looking galloper standing 16.2hh, he was identified as a great option for city racing or country cups.
