Classic campaign beckons Bippo No Bungus

Thursday, 7 November 2013 - Neville Parnham will prepare Bippo No Bungus for an Ascot Classic campaign that’s worth over $400,000.

Bippo No Bungus returned to form with a last-stride victory over Wroughted in the Auto Classic Mini Garage Hcp (1500m) on Saturday. It prompted Parnham to declare she will be right in the mix during a lucrative four-leg series for mares staged at the summer carnival.

“She lobbed closer to the lead than we intended,” he said on Saturday. “But when she came back under Chris (Parnham), I knew she would wind up with a nice finishing sprint.”

Parnham will set her for the Jungle Mist Classic (1200m) on November 23, Jungle Dawn Classic (1400m) on December 7, Starstruck Classic (1600m) on December 21 and La Trice Classic (1800m) on January 1.

“Her raceday results didn’t reflect how well she’s been going at home,” he explained. “She takes a few runs to find form and is ready to step up now.”

Bippo No Bungus (4m Dubawi - Quest For Pleasure by Quest For Fame) is raced by Geisel Park owner Eddie Rigg in partnership with Ken Hunter and Yarradale Stud’s Ron Sayers. She cost $70,000 at the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions and has earned $176,600.

This time last year, the daughter of Darley champion Dubawi was runner-up to Geisel Park filly Fuddle Dee Duddle in the G3 Champion Fillies Stakes and then went down a nose in the G2 WA Guineas.

Bippo No Bungus is a half-sister to G2 Queensland Guineas winner Torio’s Quest (Oratorio). Second-dam Sandy’s Pleasure won the 1987 G1 Victorian Oaks and then travelled west for a Listed victory in the Pinjarra Oaks.
