Express Service Slams Rivals
Original article by Perth Racing

Talented gelding Express Service continued his impressive vein of form with a slashing victory in the Magic Millions 3YO Trophy at Ascot on Saturday.
Following on from an impressive win at Pinjarra earlier this month, the Darren McAuliffe-trained gelding sat outside leader and favourite Passion Cantata in transit and proved far too strong for rivals in the run home.
The two-length win gave the robust three-year-old his third career triumph and took his stakes-earnings to over $100,000.
Jubilant breeder-owner Eddie Rigg was full of praise for McAuliffe post-race and said the WATC Derby was his main aim this preparation.
“D-mac’s doing a great job,” Rigg said.
“He loved this horse at our (Geisel Park) draught a couple of years ago and I don’t think D-mac would swap this horse for anyone heading into the Derby.”
Express Service, by Danehill Express, is out of former very gutsy Marooned(GB) mare Lip Service, a winner at four of nine starts.
Saturday Skies and Sireeze battled away strongly to fill second and third respectively.
Profound Effect started a clear second favourite, but got too far out of his ground and was never a winning proposition.
Passion Cantata led before fading badly in the straight and was later found to be injured.
