Geisel Park gears up for Perth Magic Millions

Monday, 6 January 2014 - Geisel Park has entered 17 yearlings for Perth Magic Millions and half the draft are from the first southern crop of War Chant.

Owner Eddie Rigg joined forces with Yarradale Stud’s Ron Sayers to shuttle War Chant to Australia in 2011. The son of Danzig returned to Three Chimneys Farm in Kentucky last month and the businessmen are hoping he will be back for a fourth Sunspeed book in 2014.

In the meantime, Geisel Park’s eight War Chants include a filly from a half-sister to Elite Belle who won the LR La Trice Classic on Perth Cup day.

Catalogued as Lot 128, the filly is from Perth winner Old Value (Old Spice) who is also a half-sister to LR Pinjarra Cup winner Battle Emblem.

A War Chant standout is the colt catalogued as Lot 143. He is the first foal from Listed Staten Island Stakes winner Point Me To It (USA).

Another War Chant with links to the La Trice Classic is the filly parading as Lot 172. She is out of Sky Drama (Kenvain) who won the fillies feature in 2008.

The black-type connection keeps coming with the War Chant colt ex Hallelujah (Lot 279). He is a half-brother to Sydney Listed winner Domine (Strategic)and Brisbane stakes performer I’llbetricked (Hidden Dragon).

The Geisel Park consignment also includes yearlings by Group 1 Hunter Valley stallions Encosta de Lago, Flying Spur, Snitzel and Choisir.
