Geisel Park heading in right Direction

Friday, 15 August 2014 - Geisel Park Stud has hit a purple-patch since the start of the season and owner Eddie Rigg is hoping the winning run continues this weekend.

GET ROUND IT (Danehill Express) dropped back from a midfield finish in the LR Belmont Classic to win at Kalgoorlie last Sunday.  He is a younger half-brother to Rigg’s LR Hannans Hcp winner Mr Vadim and has been nominated to back-up in the Goldfields Tatt's Cup this Sunday.

Kalgoorlie has been a happy hunting ground for Geisel Park this season.

Rigg leased ZEE DRIBBLER to clients of trainer Peter Fernie and he won in Kal on August 3.  The Due Sasso gelding can make it 3 wins from his last 5 starts there this Sunday.

ISLAND PAGO (Choisir) completed a Goldfields double for Geisel Park a fortnight ago.  Rigg races him in partnership with Santo Guagliardo and Ron Sayers.

BANGKOK EXPRESS continued his rise up the ranks carrying Geisel Park’s familiar red and black colours to victory at Belmont on Wednesday.  The Danehill Express gelding won a Northam maiden in July and then finished a close second to Supposition at Belmont despite racing greenly in the straight.

Trainer Simon Miller will keep him solely for 1000 metres sprints in future.

On Thursday, THE DIRECTOR won first-up at Pinjarra after a four-month spell.  Another son of Mungrup Stud sire Danehill Express, he is raced by trainer Trevor Andrews and his wife Joanne, Isaac & Estelle Cohen and Ken & Helen Gregson.

Rigg kept a share after selling The Director at the 2012 Perth Magic Millions and he has also retained the gelding’s two year-old half-brother by War Chant.

Geisel Park stakes winner BIPPO NO BUNGUS will be fancied when racing second-up in the Belmont Park Cup on Saturday.  She is being kept safe at $9 in pre-post markets after winning second-up at Ascot in 2012 and 2013.

Bippo No Bungus (Dubawi) is the class runner of the field and won the LR Starstruck Quality (1600m) at Ascot last December prior to a trip east where she was placed in the G3 Schweppervescence Trophy and G2 Sunline Stakes in Melbourne.

After her Melbourne campaign earlier this year, Damien Oliver told Rigg and Sayers the mare could come back and win another feature race this season.
