Geisel Park mare stays in WA

Wednesday, 24 September 2014 - Bippo No Bungus will stay in Western Australia for the immediate future instead of starting in the G2 Stocks Stakes at Moonee Valley this Friday night.

The Dubawi mare is raced by Eddie Rigg and Ron Sayers and is coming off a close third in the LR Hannans Hcp in Kalgoorlie. She flew from the tail of the field to get with a length of Sireeze last week and looks well-placed in the Macau Hcp (1650m) at Belmont this Saturday.

The Geisel Park mare will meet the Hannans winner 2.5kg better at the weights and an extra 250 metres is also in her favour.

“We decided to keep her at home for the time being and head towards the Northam Cup,” Rigg said. “We can then focus on the Ascot summer carnival with a view to targeting Melbourne races in the autumn.”

Bippo No Bungus (5m Dubawi - Quest For Pleasure by Quest For Fame) travelled to Melbourne earlier this year for placings in the G3 Schweppervescence Trophy and G2 Sunline Stakes.

A $70,000 graduate of the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions, she has banked $356,125 and her residual value will continue to climb this season being a half-sister to G2 Queensland Guineas winner Torio’s Quest (Oratorio). Second-dam Sandy’s Pleasure won the G1 Victorian Oaks.
