Proart proactive at Geisel Park
Tuesday, 20 January 2015 - Rosmartini looks an early winner for Geisel Park’s first-season sire Proart after scooting clear in a Belmont trial on Monday morning
She scored by more than four lengths for Simon Miller and a syndicate managed by Jock Wilberforce. They also raced her dam Rosmopolitan to four wins up to 2200 metres in Perth.
Proart’s only other starter this season has been Glitterbell. The Mike Santich trained filly had been placed on debut in the Initial Plate back in October.
A Group 3 winning son of Rock Of Gibraltar, he was initially based at Korilya Stud before transferring to Geisel Park for the 2014 stud season.
Rosmartini is the first foal from Rosmopolitan (Verglas). The mare was sold for $24,000 with a PPT to War Chant at the Perth Winter Sale in June last year.
She was purchased by agent Michael Flannery on behalf of Sunspeed breeder Jim Anderson and, after foaling a War Chant colt in September, was bred back to Maschino.
Anderson stands Maschino alongside Trade Fair at Alwyn Park Stud. A son of Encosta De Lago, he won 7 races up to Group 3 level in the R J Peters Stakes.
Geisel Park owner Eddie Rigg has entered 24 yearlings for the Perth Magic Millions next month starting with a Blackfriars half-brother (Lot 4) to his LR Hannans Hcp winner Mr Vadim.
