War Chants popular at Magic Millions

Tuesday, 25 February 2014 - Geisel Park owner Eddie Rigg benefited from a strong contingent of War Chants when his Perth Magic Millions consignment aggregated over $910,000.

Geisel Park’s four War Chants changed hands for an average of $77,750 and that didn’t surprise studmaster Brian Collison.  “They were well received alright and we’re looking forward to getting War Chant back to WA later this year.

“He’s really stamping them and, if anything, his second crop are even better than the first!”

Top-price of the quartet was the colt from USA bred mare Point Me To It (Precise End) who won 6 races and was stakes placed twice at Aqueduct.  He was purchased by Mark Bayliss for $95,000.

Bayliss also purchased an Encosta de Lago colt from Geisel Park for $130,000.  “He’s a well-built, well-balanced individual and a lovely mover,” Collison added.  “His older half-brother Pago Rock ran fourth in the Group 1 Lightning at Flemington a few days before the sale.”

War Chant (Danzig) shuttles to Australia in a deal struck by Rigg and Yarradale Stud’s Ron Sayers.  He has been based at Yarradale for three southern seasons and the response to his first Sunspeed yearlings will go a long way to having the arrangement extended.

In addition to their War Chants entered for the Perth Magic Millions, Rigg and Sayers have retained his yearling half-sister to G1 Kingston Town Classic winner Ihtsahymn.
