A Plus fertility for Aysar

Friday, 15 September 2023 | Geisel Park received great news when the first two mares covered by its new sire Aysar returned 14-day Positive Pregnancy Tests on Friday morning.

Aysar is a stunning 16-hands chestnut son of Champion sire Deep Field (Northern Meteor) and he’s been popular since an eye-catching introduction to WA breeders at the Geisel Park Open Day in June.

“He’s a big, imposing stallion with a faultless temperament and I’ve been looking forward to working with him,” Geisel Park Stud Manager Conor Dunlop said.  “He’s an exciting prospect representing a very successful sireline with a Stakes-winning record plus the physical attributes to make a successful stallion.

“And the quality of breeders getting involved will give him every chance at stud.”

Among them is Loloma Farms owner Kevin Fowler and his Ascot 2yo winner Jungle Mak (Teofilo) was the first mare to return a PPT to Aysar.

She is already the dam of Shell Bell (Snippetson) who was a front-running winner of two Ascot nurseries for Fowler last season.  There’s stamina in the bottom half of her pedigree through Champion Group 1 stayer Veandercross (NZ).

Dunlop also reports the second PPT was returned by Geisel Park mare Don’t Call Me (Snippetson).  She is an unraced three-quarter sister to Rebelson (LR Fairetha Stakes, LR Aquanita Stakes & LR Northam Cup) who is from a half-sister to Group 1 Champion Black Heart Bart.

Fellow Geisel Park stallion Manhattan Rain can land another black-type strike with La Danseuse Rouge in the G2 Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m) at Flemington on Saturday.  The Cliff Brown-trained mare was last seen winning the LR Lightning Stakes (1050m) at Morphettville in July.

“I thought it was going to be a big field earlier this week,” Brown said.  “But when the nominations fell away I realised she might be a chance.  She worked well on Wednesday morning and it’s a Group 2 event so even if she runs a place it would be good for her future as a broodmare.

“It’s a good field, but the one thing I do like is the speed in the race and she’s run well up the Flemington straight before which is also a plus.”

La Danseuse Rouge (4m Manhattan Rain – Margaux by Exceed And Excel) is the first foal from and Irish-bred mare related to former WA stallion Vital Equine (Danetime).  Besides Aysar, Manhattan Rain stands for an $8,250 service fee alongside All American ($4,400).  All fees (inc GST).
